The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) has recently updated its curricula modules for designers. As information technology develops at a rapid rate, it is important to keep up with the new and improved tools that people who use Assistive Technology need so they don’t lose access to the world of digital media. For them to use the technology, it needs to be built, and those who build it need to know what is now available.
Technology Lecturers need to have the information, so they can teach their students the best practice when designing technology. Many designs limit access to those who use AT and this deprives them of their right to fully participate in the world.
The new designer modules focus on accessible user experiences, primarily for teaching visual, information, interaction, and UX designers. It is now available from the W3C Org Web Accessibility Initiative.
