After Google Chrome 109 and Microsoft Edge 109 released their updates, Mozillla has followed suit with its own “109” update. Bringing Manifest V3 extensions support, security fixes and other support, Firefox 109 is now available in the Release channel.
But it is one improvement in particular that will be useful for screen reader users and the world of digital accessibility. The native HTML date picker (for date and datetime inputs) is now able to be used with a keyboard alone. Common keyboard shortcuts are also to be used in navigating the calendar grid and month selection spinners, making it more accessible also for users with limited mobility.
Updates to Firefox will be automatic, but users have the option to force a browser update by navigating to the Menu, selecting Help and then About Firefox.
