The 22nd International Web for All Conference (W4A’25), taking place on April 28-29 at the ICC Sydney: International Convention & Exhibition Centre, will feature a paper by Dr. Scott Hollier, Dr. Ruchi Permvattana, and Dr. Justin Brown.

This year’s conference theme is “Accessible Employment,” highlighting the importance of inclusive recruitment practices. The presentation will discuss the accessibility challenges faced by Centre for Accessibility Australia (CFA Australia) in onboarding new staff, specifically with the Australian Taxation Office’s (ATO) PDF Tax File Declaration form.

The form’s inaccessibility to screen-reader users has forced CFA Australia to adopt inefficient workarounds. The authors will lobby for the ATO to create accessible alternatives and redesign the process around a fully online, accessible workflow.

This presentation aligns with the conference theme, emphasising the need for greater accessibility in digital government services and inclusive recruitment practices. W4A’25 brings together experts and researchers to share knowledge and innovations in web accessibility, covering topics such as disability, diversity, and inclusion.
