Apple has expressed interest in Bluetooth’s Auracast technology, which allows audio to be broadcast to multiple devices without pairing. While Apple’s Director of Accessibility, Sarah Herrlinger, called it a “great next step,” she did not confirm if it would be integrated into AirPods.
At an event marking 40 years of Apple’s accessibility efforts, the company also highlighted Music Haptics—a feature that uses vibrations to help deaf and hard-of-hearing users experience music. Musician KT Tunstall, who is deaf in one ear, praised its ability to differentiate song elements through touch.
Apple has made the technology available to developers, but it is unclear if other platforms like Spotify will adopt it.
