On Wednesday, 9th October 2024, Centre for Accessibility Australia (CFA Australia) conducted a highly engaging workshop on digital accessibility in the workplace, held at Esperance Lotteries House.

Titled “Inclusion Matters! Digital Accessibility in the Workplace,” the free event aimed to empower individuals, small business owners, and employees from various sectors to implement digital accessibility in their workplaces.

Dr. Scott Hollier, CEO of CFA Australia and a renowned expert in digital accessibility, led the presentation. Drawing from his extensive knowledge and personal experience with disability, Dr. Hollier emphasised the importance of making digital content accessible to everyone.

Throughout the workshop, participants explored essential techniques and best practices for creating inclusive digital experiences, including:

– Practical accessibility techniques
– Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards
– Legal compliance
– Plain language guidance
– The future outlook for accessibility with AI

Hands-on document remediation sessions using Microsoft 365/Office provided valuable insights into creating user-friendly digital assets.

The event was well-received, and CFA Australia extends appreciation to the Department of Communities WA for their sponsorship.
