With Android 15’s much awaited release, we could also be expecting the welcome of an intensity slider to its existing features of colour correction.
The function of colour correction modes has been introduced as a core accessibility function since the update of Android 10, showcasing Google’s dedication to enhance the experience of users with colour blindness.
By clicking into the “Settings” app, opening up the “Accessibility” option and selecting “Colour and Motion”, users are able to utilise several colour correction modes that each aim to assist differing degrees of colour blindness. These modes, which include Deuteranomaly, Protanomaly, Tritanomaly, and Grayscale correction are implemented to adjust the colour balance of a device display according to its user’s personal needs.
With the possible addition of an intensity slider, this would enable users to further fine-tune such features to meet their unique preferences; through the selection of three different levels, users may adjust the intensity strength of each colour correction mode.
While not yet officially available, this new feature would make it easier for people with colour blindness to better access their devices and its many uses, thus highlighting the urgent need for digital accessibility in this area.
