Accessibility Settings

Getting to the Accessibility Settings Menu

  1. Go to the home screen.
  2. Click on the settings icon in the top, right corner.

This icon opens the main settings menu where you can adjust various device options.

  1. Click the settings icon again.

This ensures you are in the correct menu for accessing system settings.

  1. Click on System.

The System menu contains all system-wide settings for your device.

  1. Click on Accessibility.

The Accessibility menu provides options to make your device easier to use for everyone, especially those with disability.

Vision Related

High-Contrast Text

High-contrast text is an accessibility feature that helps people with low vision improve readability by changing page colours. To use this feature:

  1. Go to the Settings – System – Accessibility.
  2. Turn on High-contrast text (Experimental).

This setting adjusts the text to be higher in contrast, making it easier to read.

TalkBack

TalkBack provides spoken feedback to help low-vision users navigate their device.

  1. Go to Settings – System – Accessibility.
  2. Select Talkback, then toggle Enable.

This activates spoken feedback to assist with navigation.

  1. Customise TalkBack settings by accessing the Configuration submenu.

Adjust TalkBack to suit your needs for better usability.

  1. For advanced TalkBack settings, such as engine, return to the Accessibility menu and select Text-to-speech. You can choose speech engine and speech rate here.

Hearing Related

Captions

This function will automatically generate captions when audio/video plays. To do this, the user will need to:

  1. Open the Accessibility menu.
  2. Select Captions
  3. Toggle Display to on.

This turns on captions for audio and video content.

  1. Navigate up and down through the menu to adjust additional options, such as language, text size, and colour.

Customise the appearance and language of captions to suit your needs.

General and Mobility Related

Switch access

Allows the user to control the device using switches rather than the standard remote.

  1. Go to Setting – System – Accessibility.

This enables control of the device using external switches.

  1. Select Switch access, then toggle Enable on.

  1. Adjust Switch Access to user needs by accessing the Configuration submenu.

Customise the switch settings for optimal control.

Button Mapper

Button Mapper allows the user to reconfigure to functions of buttons on the remote.

  1. Go to Setting – System – Accessibility.
  2. Select Button Mapper, and toggle Enable on.

This lets you remap buttons on your remote to different functions.

  1. Adjust Button Mapper to user needs by accessing the Configuration submenu.

Personalise button functions to suit your preferences.

Accessibility Shortcuts

When the shortcut is enabled, you can enable another accessibility feature by pressing both the back and down buttons for 3 seconds.

  1. Go to Setting – System – Accessibility.
  2. Select Accessibility shortcut, then select Enable accessibility shortcut.

This activates the shortcut feature for quick access.

  1. Select whether Accessibility Shortcut enables TalkBack, Switch Access, or Button Mapper.

Choose the accessibility feature you want to quickly enable with the shortcut.
