Working together with PMDG Simulations, software developers Andy Borka and Jason Fayre, have developed software called Talking Flight Monitor – making flight simulation possible for those who are blind or have low vision.
With their love of aviation combined with their lived experiences of being blind, Borka and Fayre have created text friendly interfaces for the 737 and 777 manufactured by PMDG. Available for the Prepar3D flight simulator, these modifications of simulations with accessible control panels allow a user who is blind or with low vision to take off, navigate and land, with no need to see the screen.
This is made possible by utilising over 70 keyboard shortcuts, where both autopilot control and full manual control is possible for the aircraft simulation.
