The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) has released the First Public Working Draft of Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) 1.3, and they are seeking input from the community to enhance its effectiveness.
The draft, available at WAI-ARIA 1.3, marks a significant step forward with major changes from its predecessor, ARIA 1.2. Among the notable updates are the introduction of new roles, including ‘suggestion,’ ‘comment,’ and ‘mark,’ which expand the range of elements that can be identified and interacted with in web applications.
For a detailed list of changes, the changelog provides an overview of modifications made since the previous version.
To stay up-to-date with the latest developments, the in-progress updates to ARIA 1.3 are available in the Editors’ Draft.
