The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has announced a draft Group Note on Collaboration Tools Accessibility User Requirements (CTAUR) and is inviting comments from the public. This document outlines accessibility user needs, requirements, and scenarios for collaborative content creation and development tools. There is a focus on features and capabilities unique to interactive, real-time, or asynchronous collaborative applications.

The CTAUR document aims to influence the evolution of future accessibility guidelines, technical specifications, or features of collaboration tools and assistive technologies. It is particularly relevant to software developers contributing to the development of collaborative experiences.

The W3C invites broad review from a cross-disability perspective and requests comments on specific issues, including:

– Managing complexity in collaborative editing environments
– Delineation between content creation elements and collaboration management
– Social considerations in collaborative efforts
– Glossary definitions

Comments can be submitted via GitHub or email by September 30, 2024.
