Xbox has recently launched a series of updates and events. In a recent Xbox Wire post, the company outlined its efforts to enhance accessibility in gaming.
Among the upcoming updates, players can remap controller buttons to nearly 90 keyboard keys on the Xbox Adaptive Controller and Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. This feature is especially beneficial for players with mobility related disability, allowing them to use the Xbox Adaptive Controller for games originally designed for keyboard and mouse support.
Moreover, players can now pair a new controller with an Xbox console using an Xbox media remote, digital assistance voice commands, and an already-paired controller, eliminating the need for physical interaction with the console’s small button.
Xbox is also expanding accessibility support on PC, with a ‘Game accessibility’ setting in the Xbox Game Bar, offering easier access to accessibility settings. Additionally, the company continues to support the ‘Xbox Game Accessibility Feature Tags,’ providing a way for players to find games that meet their accessibility needs.
Forza Motorsport, Sea of Thieves, and Age of Empires are featured games with notable accessibility innovations, including one-touch driving, screen narration, text-to-speech, and more, making gaming more inclusive for a wider audience.
